    Diego Marani


Diego Marani Diego Marani is an Italian translator working in Brussels for the Council of Ministers of the Eurpean Union.
Inventor of a mock and provocative language, the Europanto, since 1996 he writes a weekly column in Europanto in the Swiss dayly Le Temps. In 1999 Diego Marani has published in France " Las adventures des Inspector Cabillot ", a collection of short stories in Europanto which brought him to the notorious French cultural programme " Bouillon de culture ".

The hero of his book, Inspector Cabillot, is the first absolutely European detective, fighting against crime all over Europe and obviously speaking only Europanto. But Diego Marani writes also in his own language, Italian.

His last novel, " Nuova Grammatica Finlandese " has received the prestigious " Grinzane-Cavour " prize in Italy and was saluted by the critics as a revelation of the new Italian literature.

Born in Ferrara (Italy) in 1959, Diego Marani is married and has two children.
