In a meeting of our Euro association here in Vienna a spectator stood up in the discussion and complained very angrily, that there would be no basis democracy in the Union and blamed all the Austrian politicians for it. I did not say anything, because I had decided to keep quiet once this day, but my point of view is the following: If there are pan-european elections, the Austrian voter would have to vote a foreign politician of his party, who he would not know, neither his program and he would not even speak his language. And our media are unable today to transport European agenda without that, if you look at our media in which discussions they are entangled. At the moment it is so, that we have our right wing extremist Freedom party in the government, of which a newspaper recently wrote: "They are in the government, but not at the power". Much points to that, that government is loosing more and more importance in our society. It is the question, if the cause is the bad constitution of the Freedom Party itsself or the voter, who is the new generation of young people, who want fundamental alternatives to our hitherto political system, which has never been there ? It is the generation, who grows up in prosperity without knowing, who was Hitler at all and cannot find any sense in the dual principle of competition between the old right and left post war parties after end of the cold war and the collapse of the Sovjet Union. But the Freedom party of Austria seems not to be the new movement of the future. Perhaps this means, that the center of power is now moving more to the Union in any way ? Do we have considered enough, what will happen, when the Euro will be introduced on the next 1st of January ?
